Toy Story Part 4: When Toys Attack
New connected toys are hitting the market faster than we can keep up. One of the biggest debuts comes from Mattel with Hello Barbie. As one of the first connected dolls, Hello Barbie acts similar to Siri, telling jokes, keeping conversation, and sharing stories. The scary part is she’s proven to be vulnerable to hacking. Mattel has partnered with ToyTalk to incorporate privacy into the pint-sized doll and is actively paying researchers to find flaws. However with a recent breach of nearly 11 million accounts tied to the toy Learning Lodge it’s hard to say whether you want your toddler being susceptible to hackers. Security experts have pinged two big mistakes on connected toys 1. They store too much information for far too long. 2. Companies are not taking enough precautionary steps to protect the information. 2015 is coming to a close and with it marks all the trends of the year. So what does social media say about hashtags? Well for the third year in a row #Love tops the list as the most used hashtag. #LoveWins will most likely hit the list being used 6.2 million times following the Supreme Court’s gay marriage ruling in late June.
