Go Social in Finding Travel Agents and Trips Galore

Does seeing the world excite you? Do you live for planning vacations? Do you spend hours each day reading travel blogs or watching travel shows? If so, you’re not alone.

Many people dream of exploring their way through life, whether that’s backpacking through Europe or exploring your own home town.

The article “Six signs you are addicted to travel” shares six signs that travel might be more than just a one-time thing each year.

Signs you’re addicted include spending endless hours on blogs and travel shows, enjoying living out of a suitcase, getting excited after purchasing a plane ticket (a new adventure awaits!), planning your next trip while still on your current one, spending a good portion of your money on travel and getting lost on all your adventures.

Nowadays, many travelers are turning to social media to score free vacations, find exotic hot spots and get in contact with local travel agents.

If you’re ready to start traveling, it’s time to start engaging in social media.

Travel the Social Media Road

First, in order to use social media for travel, you have to be on social media.

If you don’t already have a Facebook page, Twitter account, Google+ page, Instagram account and LinkedIn profile, get one now.

Once your profiles are set up, you can use social media to:

  • Find travel agents – Use your own social profiles to connect with travel agents in your area. Travel agents, like real estate agents, are constantly looking for new business and want to help you find the best deal on your vacation. Travel agents book vacations for a living, so why not use one when planning your next getaway? Travel agents know about the best locations, the best hotels, the best times to visit your location of choice and more. Use social media by finding travel agents in your area and connecting with them. See how they go about their work, read client testimonials and visit their webpage.
  • Save money – If you have a large following on any of your social media channels, use it to your advantage. Companies will sometimes offer free hotel rooms or free flights in exchange for you posting a few photos on your social media account or writing a positive review. Having a blog with a large following can help tremendously in getting companies to work with you. Oftentimes, companies will be the first to approach you, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with approaching a company and asking for a discount or free night in a hotel.
  • Find the best vacation spots – Blogs and social media can give you a first-hand account on the best vacation spots, whether you’re traveling abroad or in the U.S., with or without children, or by yourself or with a group. Why not learn about travel hot spots and the best places to vacation from people who have been there before? Find Instagram accounts on people who travel regularly, look for travel groups on Facebook, use Twitter to Tweet that you’re in the market for a vacation and more.

Social media is key when it comes to finding a travel agent, saving money and finding the best vacation spots.

Next time you plan on booking a vacation, turn to social media.
