What to do after you  Stepped on Someone’s Toes

LinkedIn has been staying low key lately and for good reason. Earlier this year they got in trouble for spamming users inboxes and were slapped with a $13 million class action lawsuit. Now they’re sending 50% fewer emails and working on a whole new platform called Air Traffic Control (ATC). The system uses learning algorithms to observe members actions toemails, push notifications, and texts. The new platform sends fewer notifications based on how frequently you visit the site, figuring that you’ve already seen this content. ATC learns what kind of content you prefer to view and your preferred communication style all in the hopes of delivering the user more relevant content. LinkedIn indicates this should eliminate any spam issues. “Yes I received another e-mail!” said by no one, ever.  (Source MSN)

Love will Keep us Together.

Tinder believes in love, and on Wednesday they’re newest update completely reformatted the aesthetics and algorithm of the app. Due to popular demand, profiles now show education and career information. “At Tinder, we’re on a mission to bring the world closer together through new connections — Today’s updates demonstrate our commitment to enhancing the connectivity that our users are experiencing” said Ryan Ogle, Tinder’s CTO. With 10 billion matches and counting what’s next? Perhaps  a protective thumb sleeve for swiping right?! (Source Digital Trends)

15 Minutes of Fame … ( or more)

We’ve all had the dream of uploading the next viral YouTube video. Well some social media stars recently hit the jackpot. CBS turned to YouTube, Vine, and Instagram to cast their newest season of The Amazing Race. The 10-time Emmy Award-winning TV show turned to popular influencers Burnie Burns, Tyler Oakley, Blair Fowler, and others to capitalize on their millions of followers. Another example of why it’s better to be a social media star these days than a television network.  (Source Mashable)
