What to Say When Your Friend’s Card Gets Declined…

What to Say When Your Friend’s Card Gets Declined…

I got you. That’s what YouTube is saying to some video creators. YouTube announced yesterday that they have their creator’s backs and are increasing their efforts to protect them. What a good friend. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act takes down videos that fall under protections provided by “fair use”. YouTube says in certain cases they will help out creators who might be in trouble by keeping the videos up, showing them off as examples of fair use in the YouTube Copyright Center and cover the cost of lawsuits presented to them. Quote of the Day: “You can’t deny Tinder is what the world wants…”

Cue the PR team at Tinder cleaning up the mess made by Tinder CEO, Sean Rad. Tinder’s parent company, The Match Group, is going public so Rad was supposed to be promoting that in an interview with Britain’s Evening Standard. Rad decided however that this interview would be a great place to say some really dumb things. Highlights from Rad’s interview include:

  • “You can’t deny Tinder is what the world wants…We’ve solved the biggest problem in humanity: That you’re put on this planet to meet people.”

  • “Feminism has led to it because now women are more independent and pursuing their desires. And that leads to both parties being more sexually active. It’s not because of Tinder.”

  • “If someone is rude do you blame the restaurant where it happened, or civilization as a whole? All we are is connecting people. And yeah, there are some disturbing people out there.”

Looks like the dating app might have to have a stern discussion with Rad. It’s unlikely that the 80 million swipers will ditch the app because of this but their IPO might not be too hot.  (Source CNN)

In Case You Missed It…

Adele came out with a new album today and people are really excited. But Adele is pulling a Taylor Swift and not streaming it on any streaming services (Think – Spotify, Apple Music). So if you want to listen to Hello on repeat, you’re going to have to buy it on iTunes. (Source The Verge)
