Does Your Business Have the Best Social Media Prescription?

post thumbnail

Not everyone gets excited about medical sales training, but it’s an important part of the field. People are always trying new training techniques to find the most productive one.

Recently, social media has entered the realm of training when it comes to pharma sales and other fields in the medical community.

Maybe some aspects of this are more effective, but what are they?

Role of Social Media Here

The question may be how does social media come into play during training. It’s not just a matter of spending time on Facebook or Instagram. It delves much deeper than that.

According to the article, “Can Social Media Tools Be Effective in Pharma Sales Training?”, social media allows creation of virtual communities that encourage extensive interaction, and this was not always an easy environment to create before social media. Social media allows indirect, organic instruction from peer-to-peer in addition to traditional training from an instructor.

Whether it’s a formal or informal training, social media has a lot to offer. And yes, Facebook does have a place here.

Very successful and worthwhile groups can be set up via Facebook Groups or LinkedIn

Groups to create thriving, sharing communities to enhance each other’s learning. It’s a forum where members can ask questions, share experience and report in on new findings.

A mix of those newer to the field and those with experience can all enhance each other while offering informative insight and value.

Does it Always Work?

It’s important to realize that not all social media is effective for training purposes. And some may be presented as effective but not come off that way.

Some may work in some instances, but not in others, depending on many factors, including audience, participation, experience and motivation.

Social media training in the medical sales world is still in the earlier stages, so just like anything else, it will take some time to prove itself.

One of the smartest methods is to use social media training tools in conjunction with other training tools and strategies.

Let it be an enhancement rather than a main component, and see where it takes you and your groups.

You may find great success and the social media groups may stick around long after training is completed.

Please share any successful training methods you have taken part in, especially those centered on social media.
